Micrel Introduces New 18V, 3A, High Performance DC-DC Converter in 3mm x 3mm Footprint

The MIC24085(http://www.micrel.com/index.php/en/products/power-management-ics/dc-dc-switching-regulators-/step-down-internal-switches/article/76-mic24085.html) family of devices operates with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V and delivers 3A of output current while operating at a fixed frequency of 1MHz. Peak current mode architecture is used to provide fast transient response. At light load, the pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode is used to boost overall efficiency.
The MIC24085(http://www.micrel.com/index.php/en/products/power-management-ics/dc-dc-switching-regulators-/step-down-internal-switches/article/76-mic24085.html) family improves system reliability by offering multiple protection features. These features include under-voltage lockout, internal soft start, cycle-by-cycle current limit, output overvoltage protection and thermal shutdown. Other features include an enable input and a PG (Power Good) output.
