Jet Airways announced its intention to order the aircraft, valued at nearly $680 million at list prices, at the Paris Air Show in June. Deliveries will begin in early 2006.
Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 39 Classic and Next-Generation Boeing 737-400/-700/-800/-900 airplanes. The airline has one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world. Approximately 24,000 passengers travel daily on more than 280 Jet Airways flights to 48 destinations that span the length and breadth of India and beyond, including Colombo, Sri Lanka; Kathmandu, Nepal; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and London Heathrow, U.K.
Since inception in May 1993 until end of July 2005, Jet Airways has flown over 53.5 million passengers.
During the Paris Air Show, Jet Airways also announced its intention to order 10 777s aircraft that will be finalized at a later date.
The Next-Generation 737 family is the popular choice of airlines worldwide for its proven capabilities and reliability. To date, 88 airlines have placed orders for more than 2,700 Next-Generation 737s. Overall, the 737 is the world best-selling jet airplane family, with more than 5,900 ordered by 225 customers.
