Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The government plans to set aside 600 million won next year to publicize the importance and promote political donations of the people.

The Ministry of Planning and Budget said Wednesday (Aug. 17) that the new allocation for publicizing political donations aims to create and establish a healthy and clean political practice.

The “political fund act” revised last July stipulates that the election commission will publicize the need for political donations, encouraging the people to become involved in politics.

Toward this end, the commission plans to strengthen publicity activities next year through newspapers, the Internet and banners.

To realize the dream of clean politics and elections, the revised political fund act prohibits corporations and groups from donating political funds, allowing only individuals to give financial support.

Statistics of the election commission showed that the donations to political parties and politicians totaled 114.5 billion won in 2000 but posted only 48.1 billion in 2004.
