VoiceBox Continues to Expand Asian Automotive Operation

BELLEVUE, WA AND TOKYO, JAPAN--(Korea Newswire)--VoiceBox Technologies, the award-winning innovator of patented Conversational Voice technology and an acknowledged pioneer in the Connected Car, today announced that it has expanded its Asian operation, based in Tokyo.

“In adding a large team of Speech Scientists with world-class expertise in Asian languages, VoiceBox is supplementing its Sales and Technical Support team to provide its customers end-to-end support to build superior Automotive voice solutions for the Asian markets,” said Toshiaki Hashimoto, who leads the Company's Tokyo office.

VoiceBox is an acknowledged innovator in automotive voice applications, having delivered the industry's first embedded NLU (Natural Language Understanding) interface with Toyota in 2008. In extensive consumer research commissioned by Toyota, VoiceBox rated significantly higher than its competition and was cited as the highest ranking technology car buyers wanted for their cars.

VoiceBox also pioneered the Connected Car concept and, again with Toyota, delivered the innovative Entune product, which won a CES Best of Show award in 2011. The VoiceBox-Toyota relationship was recently highlighted as a case-study in industry innovation at the Silicon Valley Open Innovation Summit.

“These innovations were built on our patented use of context, capable of creating a truly conversational, personal voice experience,” said VoiceBox CEO Mike Kennewick. The IEEE-sponsored Patent Power 2013 Scorecard(http://spectrum.ieee.org/static/interactive-patent-power-2013#anchor_comp_soft) research recently ranked VoiceBox Technologies among the Top 15 companies with the most influential computer software technology IP in the world. VoiceBox was the only Voice Technology Company in that top group.

VoiceBox provides ‘one-stop-shopping’ for companies looking to build voice applications -- from ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition), NLU, TTS (text-to-speech) technologies together with a full range of development, testing and data services. In fact, VoiceBox recently collaborated with AT&T to provide on-site voice services in AT&Ts Drive Studio, the industry's first and only Connected Car center for innovation and research.

In addition to Toyota, VoiceBox ships with Fiat, Dodge, Chrysler, Maserati, Renault, Mazda and Tom-Tom in 23 languages across 3 continents. “Expanding our Asian presence with a significant investment in Speech Science development for Japanese, Mandarin and Korean languages reflects our commitment to serving our partners in these important markets,” concluded Hashimoto.
