CKI, taking the lead in nurturing women CEOs in partnership with KOSBI

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Citibank Korea Inc. (www.citibank.co.kr, CEO Ha, Yung-ku) had a course completion ceremony for the “7th Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneurship Academy (WEA)” together with Korea Small Business Institute (KOSBI, www.kosbi.re.kr, Deputy President Kim, Se-jong) at the K-Biz Korea Federation of Small and Medium Businesses located in Yeouido on Jul. 17th.

Under the sponsorship of Citi Foundation, the program has been in place since 2008 with an aim to identify the role models for women-led SMEs and enhance their competitiveness. The fund is used to run ‘Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneur Award’, ‘Citi -KOSBI Business Start-Up Relay Camp’ and ‘Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneurship Academy’.

A total of 373 people, including 62 CEOs spearheading SMEs and 12 online registers have so far completed the program, and the tuition which is approximately KRW 3 million per person is sponsored by Citi Foundation in full amount. The 7th Citi-KOSBI Women Entrepreneurship Academy started with the course opening ceremony on Apr. 10th, and 21 lectures have covered a wide spectrum of subjects from creative cultural management, how to become more competent CEOs, online marketing strategies, corporate crisis management etc..

On Jun. 12th, an awarding ceremony was hosted to recognize women CEOs who have shown brilliant performance in four categories(Entrepreneurship; Corporate Social Responsibility; Eco-friendly Management; Human Resource Management), and the STAR Camp and corporate tour program are also in the pipeline to encourage women to be more active in starting up their own businesses and to expand employment at women-led companies. The two programs will be available to the juniors and seniors of Sookmyung Women’s Univ., Dongduk Women’s Univ., Soongsil Univ., and Hoseo Univ., and those who are preparing to kick-start their own businesses. The initiatives will help secure business mentors and facilitate the exchanges between the women CEOs and those who aspire to become women CEOs that they can be better equipped with so called 3Es, which includes Expertise, Entrepreneurship, and Execution.
