서울--(뉴스와이어)--Citibank Korea Inc. (CEO Park, Jin-hei www.citibank.co.kr ) had the 10th signing ceremony for “Think Money - financial education through learning and experience” with National YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) of Korea (President Cha, Kyung-ae) at the auditorium of YWCA Bldg. in Myeongdong on Apr. 14th and delivered 400 Million Won (US$ 400,000) of sponsorship fund from Citi Foundation to the non-governmental organization.

Citibank Korea Inc. has run “Think Money - financial education through learning and experience” that marks the 10th anniversary this year in partnership with YWCA of Korea with an aim to support teenagers to nurture sound perception about finance and develop self-leadership. Having completed the professional, well-structured courses for the instructors both online and offline, YWCA volunteers and the employees of the Korea franchise of the global banking institution provide financial education to the participants coming from different groups of society including primary, middle, and high school students, parents, and multi-cultural families during school classes, after-school classes, and through visitation to the YWCA center and district childcare centers. Going a step further from just delivering knowledge, the program elicits changes in the participants’ attitudes and behaviors in the long term.

In 2015, together with the programs that are already in place, “Here comes the Think Money Bus” will be newly introduced. Under this new program, instructors visit the teenagers living in mountainous or island areas who have limited access to financial education to share with them financial knowledge and offer financial consultation that can be utilized in real life.

Think Money is a financial literacy program that was rolled out under the partnership of Citibank Korea and National YWCA of Korea in 2006 to support teenagers to have sound understanding and right perception about finance and money from an earlier stage in life. For the past nine years, some 380,000 people received financial education through the program, and 1,500 financial instructors have also completed the instructor courses to be a part of this program.

In 2012, Think Money won the Minister of Strategy and Finance Prize in the 3rd Financial Education Award organized by Korea Association of Economic Education and sponsored by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Ministry of Education and Science Technology. In addition, two textbooks of “Think Money Financial Education” designed for high school and middle school students were approved as official textbooks by the Superintendent of Seoul City.
