OSAN, SOUTH KOREA--(Korea Newswire)--SurplusGLOBAL and the ‘Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled (KEAD)’ have signed an MOU with the goal of providing stable jobs and social integration that can help to create a friendly environment for persons with disabilities. The ceremony was held at SurplusGLOBAL head office in Osan City on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

As a result, a semiconductor equipment cluster of about 68,000 square meters, scheduled for the completion next June, will take the first step socially by employing people with disabilities in addition to its integration effect as a global semiconductor equipment cluster.

‘Subsidiary-type standard workplace for persons with disabilities’ is a system that supports the creation of stable jobs and social integration for severely persons with disabilities who are not available for job activities in a competitive labor market.

Meanwhile, SurplusGLOBAL established “Smiletogether Foundation” in 2012 to heal and support families of people with disabilities and has made continuous efforts to contribute to the community for families with disabilities, such as organizing the Autism Expo.

“Creating a job for people with disabilities is the best welfare that makes their families happy.” Said Mr. Bruce Kim, CEO at SurplusGLOBAL. “I want to create a workplace where people with disabilities can communicate and contribute to society by creating a variety of jobs such as managing and cleaning book cafes, cafeterias, and social stores in the cluster. The support of the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities is of great help in creating sustainable jobs for people with disabilities,” he added.

Following the signing of this MOU, SurplusGLOBAL plans to establish a subsidiary-type standard workplace in the second half of this year and employ over 15 people with disabilities by the end of next year. In addition, it plans to establish a consortium-type standard workplace for the disabled together with cluster tenants to provide more quality and stable jobs to people with disabilities.
