Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--LG Electronics, the strongest CDMA player worldwide, took the largest market share globally in the third quarter of 2005.

According to worldwide prestigious market research agency Strategy Analytics (SA), LG Electronics sold 8.8 million CDMA handsets throughout the world in the third quarter, seizing the No. 1 spot in the global CDMA market with a 23.8% market share. The cumulative figure through the first three quarters showed 22 million units (21.2%), thus giving the company the No. 1 position as well.

In the third quarter of 2005, LG Electronics sold a total of 15.5 million handsets, including GSM models across the world, taking fourth place with a 7.4% market share. The company currently ranks among the world’s four largest handset makers, which includes Nokia and Motorola.

While its high-end state of the artEVDO handsets, the VX8000 and VX8100 series, have gained tremendous popularity among the consumers after it was released in the North Americanmarket, LG Electronics’ top place in the world’s CDMA market is mainly due to theincrease in both consumer satisfaction and supply, allowing them to be positioned as premium handsets in North America.

In the third quarter of 2005, LG Electronics’ supply of CDMA handsets to North America’s mobile market increased by 86% compared to the second quarter, which is a 47% increase from the same period of last year, thus bolstering the supply successfully.

Also, LG Electronics ranked first in U.S. customer satisfaction, according to the 2005 U.S Wireless Mobile Phone Evaluation Study, which was released by North America’s most authoritative research agency J.D. Power and Associates.

According to industry analysts, LG Electronics successfully developed new CDMA handset models that are equipped with sophisticated functions, all of which have been successful and continue to boost both domestic and international sales. This is all a result of the company’s first-half strategy to consolidate all of its mobile phone production into its Pyeongtaek facility and its R&D into its newly established handset research center located in Gasan-dong, west of Seoul.
