TAIPEI CITY, TAIWAN--(Business Wire / Korea Newswire)--UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS), a global leader in applied safety science, today announced that Nan Shan Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (Nan Shan Life) achieved the first UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Environment in Taiwan for its headquarters in Taipei City.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in promoting the importance of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in the region, as the commercial real estate industry is transforming to meet the evolving demands of tenants, employees and investors regarding healthy buildings. The UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Environment is UL Solutions’ most comprehensive healthy building assessment, which helps the industry address these demands. Verified buildings meet rigorous performance criteria and have policies and plans in place for the continual advancement of IEQ, including indoor air, water, hygiene, lighting and acoustics.

Sean McCrady, vice president and general manager of Enterprise Sustainability at UL Solutions, and Jonathan T.H. Chen, regional vice president of Taiwan at UL Solutions, presented a plaque bearing the UL Verified Healthy Building Mark to Nan Shan Life during a ceremony on May 13.

“The UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Environment is our program’s most holistic distinction. It addresses five key areas — indoor air, water, hygiene, lighting and acoustics — that are rising priorities for the commercial real estate industry. This achievement shows Nan Shan Life’s commitment to creating and maintaining indoor environmental quality that supports the health, well-being and comfort of employees and visitors at its Taipei City headquarters,” said McCrady.

Nan Shan Life released a statement regarding their verification: “We are pleased to announce that our headquarters is the first in Taiwan to achieve the most comprehensive verification in the UL Verified Healthy Building program. UL Solutions is a globally recognized expert in indoor environmental quality and building health. Achieving this milestone provides our employees with science-backed verification that our Taipei City facility meets UL Solutions’ indoor environmental quality criteria and demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to promoting the health and well-being of our employees.”

To achieve the UL Verified Healthy Building Mark, Nan Shan Life’s headquarters building underwent a desktop audit, on-site visual inspections and performance testing to evaluate various building conditions. The program includes an annual comprehensive assessment coupled with surveillance at the mid-year point. The UL Verified Mark is delivered through the UL Solutions Marketing Claim Verification service.
