Greenery Introduces Low-Carbon Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Solutions at COP29
Representing South Korea at COP29, Greenery shared a rice paddy water management system and a means of processing manure into biochar, highlighting to a global audience the importance of leveraging agricultural data.
In its second case study, Greenery showcased a project that processes manure, a major source of emissions from farms, into biochar. Biochar can sequester carbon for around one hundred years, making it highly effective for carbon reduction. Through this case study, Greenery illuminated the need for carbon reduction in the livestock industry.
The talk was followed by a panel discussion on the need for technological solutions and rigorous methodologies in decarbonizing agriculture. Running through the discussion was the common thread that since agriculture is inextricably tied to food security, harnessing new technologies to decarbonize agriculture is critical. The panel discussion was joined by Saskia Sanders, a Senior Policy Advisor at Switzerland’s Federal Office of Agriculture; Pankaj Kumam, Founder and Managing Director of validation and verification body Enviance; Soojeong Myeong, a Chief Research Fellow at the Korea Environment Institute.
Greenery offers a range of sustainability solutions including net-zero strategy development, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), and climate risk management. This year in October, Greenery launched ENVION, an LCA software that evaluates the environmental impacts of products throughout their life cycles, tracking emissions at every stage of the process.
“The transition to low-carbon agriculture and animal husbandry is essential for combating climate change,” said Yoosik Hwang, CEO of Greenery. “We remain committed to driving sustainable transformation in the agricultural sector through innovative solutions.”
