Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--To promote Korean music overseas, Ministry of Culture and Tourism officials and leading music industry leaders will attend the upcoming international music convention, Le Marche international du disque et de l'edition musicale (MIDEM), from Jan. 21-25.

The MIDEM is an annual music trade fair organized by French media group Reed Midem. It attracts nearly 10,000 participants from nearly 100 countries every year from the recording, publishing, live performance, sync, digital and mobile fields.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will set up a marketing and promotion booth at the event.

Influential figures from Korea's music business, including producers and CEOs, are expected to meet with foreign businesspeople to forge deals, network and further promote Korean music.

During the Opera Night event scheduled on Jan. 24, the world-renowned Korean soprano Jo Su-mi will appear.

Besides the promotional booth, ministry officials will organize a variety of conferences, cutting-edge concerts and events.

At last year's MIDEM, Korea raked in about 2.5 million dollars from music-related contracts.
