Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to Visit Korea from April 23 to 25
President Roh Moo-hyun and Ilham Aliyev will hold a summit on April 23 and discuss ways to enhance substantive bilateral cooperation in resources and energy. The two leaders will also exchange views on matters of mutual interest, including recent developments on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia and the Caucasian region as well as collaborative measures in the international arena.
President Aliyev’s visit to Korea comes nearly a year after President Roh’s visit to Azerbaijan last May. Accompanied by five members of his cabinet, a number of government officials and 100 business leaders, President Aliyev will attend a dinner hosted by President Roh and take a tour around key industrial facilities in Korea.
The first trip to Korea by the head of the Azerbaijani Government since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992 marks a milestone in Korea’s efforts to strengthen substantive collaboration with the resource-rich Caucasus country.
