Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--President Roh Moo-hyun held a summit with President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan today at Cheong Wa Dae. Subsequently, the two leaders signed a joint statement that contains the outcome of the talks.

In the statement, the two countries pledged to develop bilateral relations based on mutual trust and respect. Korea and Azerbaijan also agreed to collaborate in their respective regions as well as the international arena and to reinforce substantive cooperation by signing MOUs in diverse fields, including an investment guarantee accord and collaboration in energy, construction, transportation and telecommunications.

The signing of the joint statement reaffirms the two countries’ commitment to strengthening relations and is expected to push their substantive cooperation to a higher level.
