Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--My fellow citizens,

I hope you will enjoy celebrating our great national holiday. Even though Chuseok comes around every year, I always feel excited. I hope you relax and drive safely. I wish all of you a happy Chuseok filled with sharing and warm feelings.

I understand many people cannot visit their hometowns even on the biggest national holiday. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all these people, including men and women in uniform, police officers and firefighters as well as other workers like bus and taxi drivers. I also hope that our North Korean compatriots and Koreans living overseas as well asforeign workers in Korea will enjoy happy Chuseok holidays.

Fellow citizens,

Various economic indexes show that the Korean economy is making a conspicuous turnaround, including the growth rate, exports, production and domestic consumption. The Government is striving to implement measures to address the bread and butter issues of ordinary citizens in a bid to translate the good marks on the indexes into a real business upturn. The economic recovery this time is expected to continue for quite a while in a stable manner because the Government has held fast to disciplined principles, not resorting to an unreasonable stimulus package.

It is worrisome, however, that some people are still struggling even under the brisk economy. To tackle this problem, the Government is doing its utmost through broad-based growth, social investment strategies and the welfare policy.

The Korean people have made strenuous endeavors so far, which led to great successes in numerous competitions. Building on this achievement, we now need to set a good example in terms of cooperating and maintaining balance. In this aspect, I want to ask all of you to join forces to build a more prosperous Korea where everyone is happy together.

I wish all of you a happy Chuseok together with all your relatives. May your home visit be safe and delightful.

Thank you.
