Brainzsquare releases SecuDrive File Server for anti-copy and log gathering
Until recently, system administrators have been feeling a lot of difficulties in control of data in a file server and auditing of it. It is because there has been barely any security solution for a file server itself even though very important and confidential data of a company is saved in it. SDFS developed by Brainzsqaure provides almost same data use just like a standard file server at the same time that it supports data leak prevention and auditing feature with file logs. Being different from other solutions, SDFS needs no additional system but only a Windows Server 2003. When a user installs software in the server, secure file server system is established.
Current secure file servers provide keyboard control and data leak prevention based on auditing of file extension, causing security vulnerability. Also, it is not easy to use because some secure file servers are provided as a secondary feature of a main product. Other companies release secure file servers with encryption feature but still lack data leak prevention and auditing of file works.
Major anti-copy features of SDFS include anti-copy of data to a local disk, block of printing and watermark on printed materials. It also provides anti-screen capture of data in a file server and prevents data transfer through network, CD recording and portable storage such as a USB drive.
SDFS works in Windows XP and Vista. Not only MS office applications but also other drawing programs such as AutoCAD can get benefits from SDFS. Data in SDFS can be saved to a secure USB drive called SecuDrive DRM to take out. SecuDrive provides DRM feature, preventing data from leaking outside.
Auditing feature embedded in SDFS saves logs for each file task. However, it does not create logs for temporary files and other ones that are not related to user tasks. Because file tasks only are saved, it provides efficient security auditing, coping with file leak path more quickly in emergency situations.
