Women in health care in the developing nations participated in health policy planning KHRDI ran ‘Health Policy Planning’

서울--(뉴스와이어)--KHRDI (President Lee Sang Yong ;www.khrdi.or.kr) ran Health Policy Planning with KOICA as a part of cooperation programs of the Korean government for health policy makers and health care personnel from Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Paraguay, Tanzania and Ukraina from 18th, July to 7th, August in 2010.

The training course consisted of lectures about health policy planning to share Korean successful healthcare policies, 5 times workshops ,study visits to KCDC, KNIH, Yangju Public Health Center, Public Health Subcenter, Primary Healthcare Posts, Seoul National University Hospital and Heo Jun Museum. Also, KHRDI prepared field trips to POSCO, the Hyundai Motors, the Nakdong Estuary Eco Center and the Gyeongju cultural heritage, cultural experience programs and home visiting program.

Especially, 11 participants were unprecedently women among the total 17 participants, boasting women's power. “We have seen the number of women in health care sector has increased and it is a global trend.” said Mr. Hector Andres Arnella, an official from the Ministry of Health in Paraguay. “Women participants are highly skilled and we had an opportunity to find independent Korean women and learn from them through this program” said Ms. Anabel Castillo, an official from the Ministry of Health in Ecuador.

On the other hands, “Since among UN Millenium Development Goals, 2 goals (Goal 4. Reduce Child Mortality Goal 5. Improve Maternal Health) are related with maternal and child health improvement, we expect a active role of women health policy makers in the developing nations.” said an KHRDI official.
