CKI donates the 4th Green Citi – Uri Dongne Soop to Jamwon Elementary School

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--Citibank Korea (CEO Yung Ku Ha, www.citibank.co.kr) and Seoul Green Trust (Director Joon Ha Yoon, www.sgt.or.kr) jointly held the ceremony of the “4th Green Citi – Jamwon Elementary School Uri Dongne Soop.”

“Uri Dongne Soop” initiative is a campaign driven by businesses, the City of Seoul, and Seoul Citizens who raise funds to create more community parks inside the City. Citibank Korea and the City of Seoul have so far contributed matching funds of 50 million each for every new uri dongne soop. Cost savings from converting bill statements to online bills or from subscribing to the Internet banking service are contributed to the initiative. Banpo-dong is the fourth community following Gwangjang-dong, Myungil-dong in 2008, and Sooseo-dong in 2009.

Some 120 people including CKI employees, Jamwon Elementary School students and their parents gathered at the ceremony. A vegetable garden was created in the 525m² size of the school courtyard covered with concrete and water resistant where students can have hands-on experience of growing vegetables and get field education on environment. CKI, Jamwon Elementary School, and Seoul Green Trust engaged in the community park presentation and workshops to provide their ideas and opinions from the initial design phase.

CEO Ha of Citibank Korea said at the ceremony, “I expect the uri dongne soop created today will become a greenery place loved by students and serve as an environment learning opportunity.” “Citibank Korea will remain committed to the Green Citi campaign, and ultimately building a greener environment.”

“I hope that all students will grow organic vegetables in their school garden and eat them in the near future with uri dongne soop of Jamwon Elementary School as a starting point,” mentioned Director Yoon of Seoul Green Trust. “I ask for continued support from citizens, businesses, and local governments on the expansion of uri dongne soop.”

Seoul Green Trust has so far created 18 community parks until the first half of this year, with a plan to increase the number to 1,000 by 2020.
