Russell Global Indexes: Financial Services Is Highest Weighted Sector in Asia and U.S.

SEATTLE, WA--(뉴스와이어)--The financial services sector is currently the highest weighted sector in both the Russell Asia Pacific Index (25.9%) and the U.S. broad-market Russell 3000 Index (17.4%). At the start of the decade, the Russell Asia Pacific Index had almost equal weights in both consumer discretionary (17.6%) and financial services (17.4%) on December 29, 2000. Over the next 10 years, the financial services sector increased in weighting to 25.9%, as of December 29, 2010.

In addition, the energy sector reflects a notable shift in both regions. The lowest weighted sector (1%) in the Russell Asia Pacific Index at the end of 2000, Energy, increased to 5.6% as of December 28, 2010. In the U.S. market, the energy sector gained close to five percentage points in the Russell 3000 Index, reflecting a weighting of 11.1% as of December 28, 2010.
