The Russell Asia Pacific Index: Consumer Staples Sector and Food Sub-Sector Reflect Loss MTD Through November 11

SEATTLE, WA--(Korea Newswire)--The Russell Asia Pacific Index reflected a (-1.3%) return for the month-to-date through November 11. The Consumer Staples sector and the Food sub-sector of the Russell Asia Pacific Index reflected steady monthly losses from August to November 11, with the exception being the month of October.

“The Thai flood and its after effects may have affected Consumer Staples and Food stocks in Asia in the third quarter,” said Stephen Wood, New York-based Chief Market Strategist for Russell Investments. Added Wood, “In addition, the non-discriminating ‘risk-off’ sentiment of global investors during the quarter clearly had an impact on performance in all global regions.”

Looking closer, the Russell Asia Pacific Index Food sub-sector has matched or underperformed the Russell Asia Pacific Index Consumer Staples sector for September (-6.6%), October (3.4%) and for November (-1.2%), through November 11.
