MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Korea Newswire)--Bombardier Aerospace confirmed today that, after months of negotiations, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment signed a firm purchase agreement for one Bombardier 415 amphibious aircraft at a ceremony in Madrid, Spain on October 17, 2013. Based on the list price, the contract is valued at approximately $37 million USD and includes spares, engineering support services and product enhancements. Delivery of the aircraft is expected in late November 2013.

“Bombardier amphibious aircraft are Spain‘s primary aerial tool for combating forest fires and fulfilling other missions within its emergency relief mandate. These aircraft are invaluable to Spain’s hardworking firefighters on the ground,” said Michel Bourgeois, President, Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace.

“Bombardier and the Spanish Government have enjoyed a long-standing relationship dating back more than 40 years. This close working relationship and Spain‘s technical inputs have facilitated significant product improvements throughout the years and I look forward to the government of Spain’s continued contribution to the success of the Bombardier 415 program,” he added.

The Spanish Government owns the world‘s largest fleet of amphibious aircraft, including 14 CL-215T, five CL-215 and now, four Bombardier 415 aircraft, the latest version of the world’s only purpose-built firefighting amphibious aircraft.
