SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA--(Business Wire / Korea Newswire)--Today LitePoint announced the release of the LitePoint® IQxel-M™, a breakthrough innovation for testing wireless devices in manufacturing environments.

“The ever-increasing complexity of smartphones and tablets coupled with decreasing product lifecycles means something has to change in wireless device manufacturing,” said Curtis Schmidek, Vice President of Marketing at LitePoint. “Today we‘ve introduced that change. The IQxel-M not only enables you to achieve test speeds up to double that of testing a single device but we’ve also combined that speed with the ability to test four devices at the same time. This will enable unprecedented throughput in manufacturing - helping our customers ramp up inventories very quickly and meet customer demand, which is often in the 10s of millions at the time a product is released into the market.”

“Smart” devices 一 smartphones and tablets, are some of the most complex devices in the world and they are being produced in unprecedented volumes compared to any other technology. It is estimated that 1.2 billion smartphones and tablets will be produced this year vs. 305 million PCs. But smart devices are also much more complex than PCs, relative to the technologies they contain and are required to operate in vastly complex and diverse networks.

Schmidek said the IQxel-M is able to deliver this new level of speed and throughput because of several new patented innovations. “This mix of speed, high volume, and low test costs are a result of several LitePoint patented technologies and methodologies including the Packet Engine® that's fine-tuned for wireless standards to help achieve maximum test throughput. High throughput becomes critical in manufacturing when inventory has to be ramped quickly to meet customer demand as devices are launched into the marketplace.”

Brad Robbins, COO of LitePoint, said there isn't any reason to believe the demand for smartphones and tablets will slow down that will continue to put pressure on manufacturers to continue to produce more, faster, but maintain the highest levels of quality. “Speed and production volume mean nothing if quality is sacrificed and quality is only assured by testing. But as devices get more complex with the introduction of more, newer technologies, companies have to make a choice when it comes to how they test their products. They can purchase more test equipment negatively impacting their operating expenses or they can choose a new innovation, the IQxel-M, that meets this demand.”

The IQxel-M will test all connectivity standards in a single tester including Wi-Fi (all of the most utilized 802.11 bands), multiple navigation standards (GPS, GLONASS, Compass, Galileo, QZSS), Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE, among others including support for up to 8x8 true MIMO.

Schmidek concluded, “It's also important to note that all of this innovation is delivered in a very compact 2U form factor. This saves vital factory floor space helping our customers manage expenses and operating costs.”
