SEOUL--(Business Wire / Korea Newswire)--Tizen Developer Summit Korea 2013 - Symphony Teleca Corporation (STC), a global innovation and development services company today announced that it will bring its expertise and experience in usability and software to help advance the adoption and development of the platform and software in the Tizen ecosystem. The Tizen Association, working closely with the Linux Foundation, has been formed to guide the industry role of Tizen, including gathering of requirements, identification and facilitation of service models and overall industry marketing and education. The company will present and showcase next-generation applications for high-definition video and music featuring social sharing and discovery, built upon the open source environment, Tizen, at the Tizen Developer Summit Korea 2013 in Seoul, Korea on Monday, November 11, 2013 and again at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas, January 7-10, 2014.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for Symphony Teleca to work with global leaders in technology to create and help ensure high-quality, next-generation consumer experiences for high volume consumer electronics such as mobile phones, tablets and TVs,” said Andrew Till, Senior Vice President, Symphony Teleca. “We are excited to play a role in shaping the future of the Tizen ecosystem.”

The Tizen open-source operating system is designed for a wide range of device categories, from smartphones to automotive in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and beyond. To achieve this cross-platform flexibility, Tizen uses HTML5 as the main focus for application development, allowing developers to maintain a single codebase. The Tizen platform also supports web applications (HTML, Javascript, CSS) and provides a rich set of services that include the application framework, along with content, location, messaging, multimedia, social network and system services.

Working with companies like Intel Corporation and Samsung, Symphony Teleca will help support the Tizen ecosystem by leveraging its expertise in usability and web and software technologies to create next-generation applications on the platform, for high-definition video and music, that feature social sharing and discovery capabilities. The company will showcase these innovations at the Tizen Developer Summit Korea 2013 in Seoul, Korea on Monday, November 11, 2013

“Support for the Tizen platform from innovative companies such as Symphony Teleca is important for the growth of the entire ecosystem,” said Christopher Croteau, Director of the Tizen Association and Managing Director, Software and Services Group at Intel Corporation. "Our collaboration will help advance the adoption and development of the Tizen ecosystem and further strengthen our objective in becoming the preferred development environment for mobile apps and services.”
