Environment ministry issues 2005 White Paper
The official report, comprised of 720 pages, describes the basis of the government environment management, and environment policies by sector and appendix.
The first part of the report refers to the major achievements of environmental policies in 2004 and the main policy direction in 2005. It introduces a system to implement environment policies according to the three parts: organization, laws and budget.
It also deals, in the part, with the construction of a cooperative system for efficient implementation of environment policy, international partnerships, informatization, education, publicity, the conservation of the environment and a mediation system for environment disputes.
In the part two, environment policies are introduced by sector. Among the fields to be dealt with are environment economy, technology, territorial environment, natural environment, air environment, water environment, water supply facilities and sewerage, subsurface water, wastes, chemicals and health policy.
The ministry plans to distribute the White Paper to administrative offices, universities and national libraries, make it available on the Internet homepage (http://www.me.go.kr) for the public.
