PyeongChang 2014 submits signed Candidature Acceptance Procedure ahead of deadline

PyeongChang--(뉴스와이어)--PyeongChang, candidate city for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in South Korea’s Gangwon Province, submitted a signed Candidature Acceptance Procedure and paid its candidature acceptance fee in full to the International Olympic Committee on July 13, ahead of the July 19.

By fulfilling these requirements, PyeongChang is now recognized by the IOC as an official 2014 Candidate City.

Representatives of the PyeongChang 2014 bid committee, the city of PyeongChang, and the Korean Olympic Committee were all required to sign the Candidature Procedure. In the case of PyeongChang 2014, those officials are: Bid Committee Chairman Han Seung-soo, Mayor of PyeongChang Kwon Hyuk- seung, and KOC Chairman Kim Jung-kil, respectively.

Signing this document also acknowledges the PyeongChang 2014 bid committee’s commitment to the Olympic Charter and its fundamental principles, and affirms that the PyeongChang bid committee shall abide by all IOC rules and regulations governing Olympic bid campaigns, as well as the IOC Code of Ethics.

Meanwhile, PyeongChang bid officials are assiduously preparing their Bid Book, which are answers to the detailed IOC Questionnaire that will be submitted to the Olympic body by January 2007 along with guarantee letters and statement.

Shortly after, the IOC Evaluation Commission will visit PyeongChang in February or March next year for a firsthand appraisal. Based upon this, the IOC will vote on the Host City for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics on July 4, 2007 at its General Session in Guatemala City.
