Organizers Gearing Up to Host 2007 InterSki Congress in PyeongChang

PyeongChang--(뉴스와이어)--An organizing committee is up and running as part of preparations for the Interski Congress 2007, scheduled to kick off in late January in Korea’s 2014 Winter Olympic bid city of PyeongChang.

Hundreds of world-class skiers, ski instructors, and others involved in snow sports instruction from around the world will participate, in what is formally called the “International Snowsport Instructors’ Congress.”

Presentations, workshops and lectures are planned in concert with the Interski General Assembly. Under the motto of “Snow Sports for All,” the Congress is scheduled to run from January 27 to February 3 in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province. The host venue of Yongpyong Resort is also one of the key Winter Olympic venues in the PyeongChang 2014 Winter Olympic bid.

To ensure the event is carried out at the highest possible level, an Organizing Committee has been formed to manage preparations. Its members include Hyeok-seung Kwon, mayor of PyeongChang; Byun Tak, chairman of the Korea Ski Association; Jin-sun KIM, governor of Gangwon Province and executive president of PyeongChang 2014, and Eric Melmer, the president of Interski International.

The quadrennial Interski Congress, most recently held in Switzerland and Norway, is regarded as one of the world’s premier winter sports gatherings, and attracts more than 1,000 sports professionals involved in snow sports instruction from over 30 countries.
