Public sector to seek best HRD authorization
The Best HRD system was first launched in 2005, so as to endow companies that show high HRD performance with the ‘Best HRD’ mark. This mark is inscribed in products and publicity material so as to enhance the selected company’s brand value. A total of 36 companies and 12 public organizations have achieved the mark so far.
Surveys showed that by taking parting in the standard system, companies were able to receive overall HRD consulting and build infrastructure for the vocational training of employers, which ultimately helped lead to the enhancement of productivity levels.
Based on such favorable responses from the private sector, the Ministry of Education, together with the Civil Service Commission and the Ministry of Government Administration & Home Affairs, intends to expand the system this year so that more public organizations may take interest and participate in educating, training and rewarding human resources. The plan is backed by the revised Basic Human Resources Development Act, which includes an article stating the implementation of the system.
New incentives have been prepared this year to facilitate participation in the system. The CEOs of awarded companies and public organizations will form a “Best HRD Club” so as to share know-how on nurturing employers. HR officers at authorized bodies will be given opportunities to visit advanced HRD institutions in and out of Korea, and participate in international HR conferences. As a start, officials of companies who received the Best HRD mark in 2006 will visit the U.K. Investors in People(IIP) and other European HRD institutions this coming June.
The ministry will receive online applications through the National Human Resources Development network at http://nhrd.net till May 12, and select final awardees in November through paper and on-site evaluations.
