GM Daewoo’s all-new Matiz is based on the M3X show car, which received an enthusiastic response from the global media and public upon its introduction at September’s Paris Motor Show. While keeping the appealing styles of the cuteness and the smiling face, the new Matiz looks dynamic and athletic as well.
The new Matiz is more economic offering even better fuel efficiency. The safety is enhanced to meet the stringent Euro NCAP standards. While its performance has been upgraded, the new Matiz will also be more environmentally friendly complying with EURO IV emission.
The new Matiz will go on sale across Korea and Europe beginning in this spring. It will gradually be rolled out in other markets around the world in the second half this year and early 2006.
“Since its launch in 1998, the Matiz has been our company’s pride and joy, and a leader in the global mini-car segment,” said Kyung-Gu Min, Managing Director of GM Daewoo’s Changwon operations. “We intend to build on our success with our new upgraded model.”
Over the years, about 1.3 million units of the Matiz have been sold worldwide, making it one of GM Daewoo’s most popular products in both the domestic and European markets. As a testament to its ongoing popularity, production of the current model has been running at full capacity and every Matiz coming off the line is already sold.
GM Daewoo Auto & Technology, which is based in Incheon, Korea, was established in 2002. It has five manufacturing facilities in Korea as well as an assembly facility in Vietnam.
