Statement issued by the North‘s delegation to the First Inter-Korean Prime Ministers’ Talks on its arrival in Seoul
We, the North's delegation to the First Inter-Korean Prime Ministers' Talks, arrived in Seoul to discuss matters regarding the implementation of the Declaration on the Advancement of South-North Korean Relations, Peace and Prosperity adopted at the historic 2007 South-North Korean Summit.
The two Koreas are now facing rapid changes in terms of peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
The inter-Korean summit talks held in October in Pyongyang and the announcement of the Declaration on the Advancement of South-North Korean Relations, Peace and Prosperity constitute yet another historic occasion in the grand march toward reunification of the North and South. The Korean people and the global community welcomed the declaration by expressing heartfelt support.
The historic October 4 Declaration is a milestone in opening a new era of peace and prosperity.
The October 4 Declaration is attracting much interest and expectations from home and abroad, and all Koreans are united in hoping for the successful implementation of the declaration.
Any agreement, however excellent it is, is meaningless if it is not translated into action.
When the North and South tackle all the historic challenges and stay fast to the spirit of the October 4 Declaration for its implementation, a new era of peace, prosperity and reunification will arrive at an earlier date.
At the talks, based on the spirit of "by-the-Korean-people-themselves," we will exert our utmost effort to faithfully discuss and address practical measures to produce fruitful agreements for the fulfillment of the October 4 Declaration.
