Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The GM Daewoo Employee Foundation delivered a scholarship of 50 million won to extremely poor students of Incheon and Gunsan cities.

The GM Daewoo Employee Foundation, mainly made up of GM Daewoo executives and employees, held the scholarship delivery ceremony at the exhibition hall of its headquarters on July 15. During the ceremony, scholarship of 40 million won was delivered to 57 high school students of Incheon city, who have difficulties in continuing their studies due to poverty.

The students selected to receive the scholarships were recommended by their schools. Besides the scholarship delivery ceremony, they shared meaningful time in having conversation sessions with their teachers and participating in the Bupyeong Plant Tour.

Additionally, the GM Daewoo Employee Foundation plans to give another scholarship of 10 million won to students hailing from North Jolla Province on July 24.

GM Daewoo Employee Foundation Chief Secretary General Joo Sukbum expressed his willingness to continue supporting poverty-stricken students and said, “There are many students who are suffering because of adverse economic conditions. Lending a helping hand to them will make our future brighter.”

Scholarship Recipient Kim Kwang-soo said, “I will keep focusing on my studies and I would like to help needy people in the future, so that I can return the love which I received.”

The GM Daewoo Employee Foundation was established in 2005 and it has helped socially-marginalized people by conducting volunteer works in various areas. The Foundation has supported low-income families, multicultural families and has also provided support to social service organizations.
