Lacetti Premiere Receives Maximum Five-Star Rating from KNCAP

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The GM Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, a global compact sedan developed by GM and GM Daewoo, has earned the top rating of five stars from the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP), which today released its safety ratings for new vehicles launched in Korea.

According to KNCAP, the Lacetti Premiere received the maximum five stars in the Frontal Crash Test, Offset Frontal Crash Test, Side Crash Test, and Whiplash Test. It earlier received five-star ratings from the Australia NCAP in May and China NCAP in July, and a five-star rating with the best scores ever in frontal and side crash tests from the Euro NCAP in November.

“Following the great results in Australia, China and Europe, we are very pleased to prove again in Korea that the Lacetti Premiere offers benchmark safety,” said Mike Arcamone, President and CEO of GM Daewoo. “GM Daewoo employees’ passion and commitment to build the best vehicles in the world and to be the best in safety combined with GM’s world-class global vehicle development team and resources have made this possible.”

The KNCAP test, conducted by the Korean Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, simulates various car collisions to evaluate the impact on passengers by body parts such as the head, neck, chest, abdomen and femur.

The Lacetti Premiere received a score of 15.59 percent out of 16 percent and a five-star rating in the Offset Frontal Crash Test at 64 km/h (driver’s seat), which is new for KNCAP this year. It also received a five-star rating in the Frontal Crash Test at 56 km/h and Side Crash Test at 54 km/h against a moving deformable barrier. In the Whiplash Test, which evaluates the impact on a passenger’s neck from a rear-end collision, the vehicle scored 9.3 points (driver’s seat), far exceeding the threshold score of 8.1 points required for a five-star rating. The overall test results confirm the Lacetti Premiere ensures outstanding safety performance in collisions from all directions: front, side and rear.
