GM Daewoo Launches Lacetti 1.6 Platinum

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--GM Daewoo Auto and Technology (GM Daewoo) launched the Lacetti 1.6 Platinum today, offering consumers an attractive new alternative in the 1,600-cc intermediate-car segment. Based on the 1.6-liter LUX model, the Platinum comes with a variety of enhanced safety and comfort features, not to mention a stylish appearance.

ABS and a center high-mounted stop lamp are among the added safety features that come standard, while fully automatic air conditioning, heated front seats, tiltable headrests, lumbar support and driver’s seat pockets ensure added comfort and convenience. Fifteen-inch alloy wheels, leather seats and a leather-covered steering wheel and gear knob add a sense of luxury. Despite these upgraded features, the Platinum model is offered at an attractive discounted price of KRW 400,000 above the LUX model.

The new Lacetti complements the rest of GM Daewoo’s 1.6-liter vehicle lineup, bolstering its strong presence in the intermediate car market.

“The highly acclaimed Lacetti exceeds the demands of consumers in its very competitive segment both in its native market and abroad,” said Alan Batey, GM Daewoo Vice President of Commercial Operations. “We are confident that with its great features and outstanding value for money, the 1.6 Platinum will attract an even greater number of customers in Korea to our Lacetti model lineup.”

The Lacetti 1.6 Platinum is offered exclusively as a notchback sedan. With a manual transmission, it retails for KRW 12,310,000. The Lacetti lineup ranges in price between KRW 11,360,000 for the Max and KRW 12,540,000 for the Diamond. The Lacetti’s 1.6-liter ETEC-Ⅱ engine generates 80 kW/109 hp at 6,000 rpm and class-leading peak torque of 15 kg.m at 3,800 rpm, giving the 1.6-liter Lacetti outstanding power for takeoff, acceleration and climbing hills.

GM Daewoo’s Lacetti has received several prestigious awards at home and abroad. In China, the world’s fastest-growing vehicle market, for example, it captured 14 awards and more than 10 percent of China’s passenger car market in 2004. In Thailand, it was named “Car of the Year 2004” at the Bangkok International Motor Show, while in India it received BBC World’s “Car of the Year 2003” award. In Korea, the Lacetti was cited as the top domestically produced compact vehicle in the Korea Management Association’s 2003 Korean Product Quality Index.
