GM CFO Ray Young Named a Member of GM Daewoo Board of Directors
The GM Daewoo BoD really recognizes Young’s commitment to the automotive industry and his stellar financial background and experience.

GM increased its stake in GM Daewoo on October 23 when it invested KRW 491 billion during an equity rights issue. The largest manufacturer in the United States now owns 70.1 percent of GM Daewoo.
“GM’s leadership regards GM Daewoo as an integral part of the global success of GM,” said Young. “I am pleased to accept this responsibility and I look forward to working with my fellow board members on getting GM Daewoo on firm financial footing as quickly as possible.”
Young joined General Motors at its Canadian headquarters in Oshawa, Ontario, and was transferred to the General Motors Treasury Operations in New York City in 1988. He progressed through various management positions, where he was responsible for finance and treasury, at GM Europe and GM North America.
He was appointed President and Managing Director of GM do Brasil and GM’s Mercosur Operations in January 2004 where he led a turnaround of that operation. On March 3, 2008, Young was appointed to his present posts after having served as GM Group Vice President, Finance, since November 1, 2007.
In 2008 and 2009, Ray was heavily involved in the restructuring of General Motors' operations and balance sheet. And on December 14, Young was named Vice President, GM International Operations, effective February 1, 2010.
GM Daewoo Auto & Technology was established on October 17, 2002. It has five manufacturing facilities in Korea as well as an assembly facility in Vietnam. In addition, GM Daewoo provides market and brand-specific vehicle kits for assembly at GM facilities in China, Thailand, India, Colombia and Venezuela. In 2008, GM Daewoo sold in Korea and exported more than 1.9 million units, including CKD products. GM Daewoo now produces vehicles and kits that are offered in more than 150 markets on six continents.
