Richard Cymberg, new president of L’Oréal Korea
Richard Cymberg, 56, received a master degree in ESLSCA and began his career with L’Oréal France in 1979. He has been working for over 30 years in L’Oréal in many key management positions in strategically important markets, Marketing Manager of Consumer Products Division in Brazil (1985-1989), General Manager of L’Oréal Paris and Garnier in UK, Germany and France (1989–1997), General Manager of Consumer Products Division in Germany and France (1997-2004), Europe Zone General Manager of Professional Products Division in France (2004-2005), Director of the Body Shop Strategic Coordination in France (2006-2008), and Zone Director of Travel Retail Luxury Products in USA since 2008. His over 30 years’ experience and competencies are expected to be good assets for leading L’Oréal Korea to further growth. The appointment of Richard Cymberg itself reflects the growing importance of Korean market, which is counted for the most dynamic one of the 10 strategic markets of L’Oréal Group.
Klaus Fassbender, who has been President of L’Oréal Korea for almost 6 years from March 2004 to today, has successfully leaded the company to significant growth, faster than any other foreign cosmetic companies in Korea. Even with the global economic downturn, L’Oréal Korea had made double digits growth in 2009. During his tenure, L’Oréal Korea has gained a good reputation as one of the best attractive workplaces among foreign-invested firms, and contributed to Korean society through its locally customized corporate social responsibility projects.
