GM Daewoo’s domestic vehicle sales in February jumped 36.8 percent year on year to 8,148 vehicles. Sales were buoyed by steady market demand for GM Daewoo’s Lacetti Premiere lower-medium sedan and Matiz Creative mini-car, which kept up their strong momentum with sales in February of 3,128 units and 3,056 units respectively.
Exports of complete vehicles by the automaker were up 1.1 percent in February from 38,624 vehicles exported in February 2009. In February, GM Daewoo also exported 89,483 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
“Despite the fewer number of shopping days in February, GM Daewoo increased its meaningful sales domestically and globally.” said Rick LaBelle, GM Daewoo Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “Our competitive customer-oriented products such as the newly launched Matiz Creative lineup with a new LPGi (Liquefied Petroleum Gas injection) model and a manual transmission are expected to help us continue to grow our sales.”
For the first two months as a whole, GM Daewoo’s domestic vehicle sales rose 33.7 percent to 17,210 units from 12,868 units in the same period last year. GM Daewoo’s vehicle exports in the first two months climbed 11.1 percent to 86,271 units from 77,664 units in the same period last year.
