GM Daewoo Reports Sales Increase of 40.6% in March

서울--(뉴스와이어)--GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) announced today strong sales in March. The automaker sold 62,646 vehicles, which was up 40.6 percent on an annual basis and an increase of 32.7 percent from February.

Domestic vehicle sales in March, which were helped by competitive products such as the Matiz Creative and Lacetti Premiere, totaled 9,434 vehicles, which was an increase of 65.3 percent from 5,708 vehicles sold in March 2009 and a rise of 15.8 percent from 8,148 vehicles sold in February.

Exports of complete vehicles in March totaled 53,212 units. This was an increase of 37.0 percent from 38,833 units exported in the same month last year and an increase of 36.3 percent from 39,052 vehicles exported in February.

In addition, GM Daewoo exported 87,358 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles in March.

“GM Daewoo had an outstanding month despite the termination of our sales agreement with Daewoo Motor Sales,” said Sung-kee Kim, GM Daewoo Managing Director of Domestic Sales and Marketing. “Our strong domestic sales are a sign of the stability and efficiency of our Multiple Retailer System, which was launched in January.”

For the first quarter of 2010, GM Daewoo recorded total sales of 166,127 vehicles. This was an increase of 23.0 percent compared to the same period last year. Domestic vehicle sales in the first three months were up 43.4 percent to 26,644 vehicles from 18,576 vehicles sold in the same period of 2009. Vehicle exports increased 19.7 percent to 139,483 vehicles from 116,497 vehicles exported in the first quarter last year.
