29 GM Daewoo Dealers Among Best-of-the Best in GMIO

서울--(뉴스와이어)--Twenty-nine GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) dealers from Korea were among the 180 GM International Operations (GMIO) dealers named GMIO Grandmasters last night during a ceremony at the Shanghai Film Studio in Shanghai, China.

The program was created to reward the company’s top dealers in its largest region. Dealers were selected based on a broad range of criteria, including vehicle sales; service and parts sales; customer satisfaction; and facility standards. It is not just about quantity, but about quality of service as well.

This year’s Grandmasters came from Korea, China, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Israel, Japan, South Africa, Thailand, Uruguay and several markets in the Middle East. Korea produced the second largest number of top dealers, following China.

Among the executives who participated in last night’s Grandmasters ceremony were GMIO Vice President Ray Young, GM Daewoo President and CEO Mike Arcamone, and GM Daewoo Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing Vice President Rick LaBelle.

“This is GM’s most prestigious honor for the men and women who sell our vehicles. Only a small percentage of GMIO’s 5,900 dealers have earned the right to call themselves Grandmasters,” said LaBelle.

“The 29 GM Daewoo dealers have distinguished themselves with their highly recognized sales performance and know-how,” he added. “With the Multiple Retailer System launched in January and a proud group of local dealers, GM Daewoo will continue to make a tremendous effort to increase sales and strengthen its presence in Korea.”

During the Grandmasters program, participants received an update on GM’s business and product plans. They also had the opportunity to visit the SAIC-GM Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai to see GM’s vision for urban transportation in 2030.

GM Daewoo Auto & Technology was established on October 17, 2002. It has five manufacturing facilities in Korea as well as an assembly facility in Vietnam. In addition, GM Daewoo provides market and brand-specific vehicle kits for assembly at GM facilities in China, Thailand, India, Colombia and Venezuela. In 2009, GM Daewoo sold in Korea and exported more than 1.5 million units, including CKD products.
