GM Daewoo Reports June Sales of 72,296 Vehicles
Once again driven by strong demand for the Matiz Creative mini-car and the Lacetti Premiere compact sedan, domestic sales in June exceeded 10,000 vehicles for the third consecutive month.
Exports in June totaled 62,264 units. This was a steep increase of 130.5 percent from June 2009, when GM Daewoo registered complete vehicle exports of 27,009 vehicles.
In June, GM Daewoo also exported 100,096 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
"We are pleased that our domestic sales and exports both continue to rise,” said Rick La Belle, GM Daewoo Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing. “We expect overall sales to grow further in the second half of the year as we aggressively target the global market and add the Alpheon upper midsize sedan to our domestic product lineup this fall.”
In the first half of the year, GM Daewoo’s domestic vehicle sales jumped 28.4 percent to 57,815 units from 45,044 units in the same period last year. The company’s vehicle exports in the first half of 2010 climbed 45.4 percent to 314,026 units from 215,964 units exported in the first six months of 2009.
