GM Daewoo Reports July Sales of 67,318 Vehicles
- Fourth Consecutive Month of Domestic Sales Over 10,000 Units
Domestic sales in July were up 10.4 percent from the same month last year and exceeded 10,000 vehicles for the fourth consecutive month. Demand was especially strong for the Matiz Creative. The popularity of the mini-car was buoyed by a model year change and the addition of the pink color to the Matiz Creative’s exterior palette, which accounted for 14% of the vehicle’s monthly sales.
Exports of complete vehicles by the automaker in the month were significantly up 59.6 percent from the same month in 2009. In July, GM Daewoo also exported 75,626 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.
"GM Daewoo’s domestic sales continue to rise due to the introduction of the pink Matiz Creative, robust marketing promotions and a series of successful model year changes in our vehicle lineup,” said Sung-kee Kim, GM Daewoo Managing Director of Domestic Sales and Marketing. “With the strong customer interest and dealer enthusiasm surrounding GM Daewoo’s new Alpheon luxury upper-medium sedan, which will soon reach the market, we expect our robust domestic sales to continue through the end of the year.”
For the first seven months of 2010, GM Daewoo recorded total sales of 439,159 vehicles. Domestic vehicle sales in the period climbed 25.3 percent to 68,128 vehicles from 54,383 vehicles a year ago, and exports increased 47.4 percent year on year to 371,031 vehicles.
