GM Daewoo Alpheon Serves as Pace Car at Yeong-Am F1 Circuit

- Alpheon will lead 2010 CJ Super Race

- Lacetti Premiere, Gentra X continue to lead in their series

Seoul--(뉴스와이어)--The Alpheon 3.0, GM Daewoo’s new large luxury sedan, will serve as the pace car at the 2010 CJ Tving.com Super Race on November 20 and 21. The race is being held at the Yeong-Am Korea International circuit, which recently hosted Korea’s first Formula 1 race.

In this, the fifth and final round, the luxury sedan will lead both the Super 3800 and Super 6000 class races to assure the track is ready for competition. In addition, the Alpheon will return to the track for safety purposes if an accident should occur.

Equipped with a V-6 SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection) engine, which also powers the Cadillac CTS, the Alpheon offers class-leading 263 horsepower. Its hydromatic 6-speed automatic transmission assures spontaneous yet powerful acceleration.

Since its launch, the Alpheon has earned very positive feedback from the market for its outstanding performance, quietness and safety. This makes the Alpheon perfectly suited for pace car duties.

In addition, the GM Daewoo racing team is now looking for its fourth consecutive win in the Super 2000 class, which includes vehicles with engine displacements below 2,000 cc. Jaewoo Lee, who serves as both a coach and racer, and Jinpyo Kim, a celebrity driver, currently occupy first and second place in the class with the Lacetti Premiere diesel model. Bonghyun Kim, racing in a Gentra X, has also maintained his first place position in the Nexen 9000 class, which includes vehicles with engine displacements below 1,600 cc. The GM Daewoo racing team has high hopes for first place finishes in both classes this year.
