GM Daewoo Wins CJ Super Race Fourth Consecutive Time
- With 1st place finish, achieves winning season
- Lacetti Premiere Diesel shows excellent performance
- Alpheon luxury sedan attracts attention as pace car
The GM Daewoo racing team’s Lee Jae-woo, a coach and racer finished first in the Super 2000 Class in their Lacetti Premiere diesel racing cars. In the Nexen N9000 Class, Kim Bong-hyun outdistanced the field behind the wheel of a GentraX, finishing second.
“I am grateful not only to our victorious drivers and mechanics, but also to our employees who came here to support the team. Today’s podium finishes have demonstrated the quality of GM Daewoo products,” said Ankush Aurora, GM Daewoo Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “As the only automotive company with a racing team, we are fully committed to motorsports in Korea.”
Lee Jae-woo added, “This victory means a lot to me as it is my third win as a racer; but more important, it gave our team its fourth consecutive win. With wins in Super 2000 class, we are poised to remain the best racing team in Korea next year.”
GM Daewoo also received a great deal of attention by allowing its Alpheon world-class luxury sedan to serve as a pace car and through the overall performance of the Lacetti Premiere diesel racing cars which made their debut in CJ Super Racing. They were cheered on by volunteers from the GM Daewoo Employee Foundation and children from local orphanages.
The winner of the six-round 2010 CJ Super Race series is determined by the cumulative scores in each round. Lee Jae-woo won the Super 2000 championship for the third consecutive year and Kim Bong-hyun took the Nexen N9000 Class championship for the first time.
The GM Daewoo racing team was established in 2007. The industry’s first racing team, it has had good results with the Lacetti EX, Gentra X, and Kalos. The GM Daewoo racing team currently has 10 members, including drivers and mechanics.
