GM Korea Talk Blog Celebrates Second Anniversary

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Talk, the revolutionary blog operated by GM Korea Co., is marking its second anniversary today. The popular social media site has attracted 3.3 million visitors and 5 million page views since its launch in 2009. An average 4,500 netizens visit the blog on a daily basis.

GM Korea Talk was created to serve as a two-way communication channel between the domestic automotive industry and consumers. A total of 15,000 comments have been posted by visitors. In addition, more than 1,800 contributions from GM Korea employees in every function, including design and R&D, have been posted.

Last year, GM Korea was named Best Company in Social Media by the Korea Internet Communication Association (KICOA) in recognition of its social media efforts.

GM Korea has carried out an overhaul of GM Korea Talk to make it an even more convenient hub for corporate communication and to improve accessibility through new media such as Facebook.

Communication Hub in Era of Blogs and Social Media. GM Korea is expanding the scope of the blog, which has focused on providing company news and product information, to include all areas of the company’s business that deal with external communication. It will offer services such as human resource recruitment schedules.

Social Wall Showing All Social Network Service Publications at a Glance. GM Korea Talk will introduce a Social Wall showing all social media content from the automaker. Visitors will have immediate access to the latest information issued by GM Korea through various platforms such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flicker.

Improved Accessibility Via Smart Phones. About one out of every four GM Korea Talk visitors access the blog using mobile devices such as Galaxy phones, iPhones and iPads. GM Korea is creating blog web icons for mobile devices and adjusting the number of postings and images to make access via smart phones easier and much more convenient.

New Content and Features Such as an Owners’ Gallery. GM Korea Talk opened the Owners’ Gallery, where car buyers can share their experiences and photos. The visitor who shares the most fervent story or photo about a special Good Memories with Good People in a Good Place every week will receive a gift. In addition, GM Korea will share 100 stories related to the Chevrolet brand – one per day – and offer gifts linked with SNS to commemorate Chevrolet’s centennial celebration.
