SEOUL, KOREA--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company yesterday held a unique event featuring a concert on the M Stage at Seoul’s Gangnam Station to celebrate the launch of the Malibu, Chevrolet’s first global midsize sedan.

With the theme of “Malibu Paradise,” the concert was one of a series of diverse cultural programs combining cars with an enhanced lifestyle presented on a stage reminiscent of California’s Malibu beach. The event, which began with a guerrilla street program conducted by Kim Jin-pyo, a singer and driver for the Chevrolet racing team, included a themed musical concert with a performance by singer Jeong Yeop. The automaker displayed several Malibus with a range of colors, offering customers the opportunity to get inside and feel the comfortable, cozy sedan first hand.

“The area around Gangnam Station is a dynamic cultural hotspot with the largest floating population in Seoul. The unique character of the area is consistent with the lifestyle offered by the new Malibu sedan,” said Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. “Through our one-of-a-kind activity, we want consumers to experience for themselves sporty design inspired by the Chevrolet Camaro, luxurious, and comfortable interior of the Malibu.”

GM Korea is also sponsoring the “Find Malibu Winner” activity in October. It will present a new Malibu sedan to the winner of the promotion. In addition, GM Korea will be hosting a series of diverse concerts on the M Stage at Gangnam Station every Friday and Saturday evening throughout the month. From October 24-31, GM Korea will operate a Malibu test-drive fleet around Gangnam Station. Further details about the concerts and test drives are posted on the Chevrolet Malibu website (http://malibu.chevrolet.co.kr).

The name “Malibu” comes from the well-known luxury enclave in California. More than 8.5 million Malibus have been sold in North America since the nameplate’s debut in 1964. It has become synonymous with luxurious, comfortable midsize sedans.

The Malibu comes with a choice of 2.0- and 2.4-liter Ecotec gasoline engines mated with a six-speed automatic transmission, and offers precise ride and handling on par with higher-end sports sedans.

The exterior design of the Malibu carries DNA from the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette, bringing a sporty sensibility to the family sedan segment. The Malibu offers the quietest ride in its segment through the use of components that prevent tire, wind and road noise from entering the cabin. Components such as noise-reducing outside rearview mirrors, acoustic laminated front glass and noise-absorption pads are strategically placed to make the cabin quiet and improve the overall quality inside.

The Malibu has an array of premium comfort and convenience features that help ensure an enjoyable and safe driving experience. A full range of the latest infotainment options is also offered, including a next-generation infotainment system with a seven-inch LCD touch screen, and an available navigation system. GM Korea began taking orders on October 4.
