SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company today introduced the Chevrolet Captiva with a 2.0-liter diesel engine to the public at the Chevrolet Winter Festival. The new model, which goes on sale nationwide from January 2012, delivers more value and gives SUV buyers more choices. It complements the Captiva 2.2-liter diesel and 2.4-liter gasoline models launched earlier this year.

“The new Captiva 2.0-liter diesel model offers best-in-class torque, along with outstanding safety and quietness,” said Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. “It also comes with more customer-friendly features at a customer-friendly price”

The new Captiva’s 2.0-liter VCDi(Variable Turbocharger Common Rail Diesel Injection) engine generates maximum torque of 40.8 kg.m and powerful performance at all speeds. With a six-speed automatic transmission, it also delivers excellent fuel economy of 14.1km/ℓ and meets the stringent Euro V emission standard, allowing buyers to benefit from the Environment Improvement Fund.

Safety is well catered for with the standard six air bags – dual front and side air bags for the driver and front passenger and curtain air bags – as well as three-point seat belts with belt tensioners and belt force limiters for the front seats. The Captiva proved its outstanding safety by receiving the maximum five-star rating in Euro NCAP(European New Car Assessment Program) crash testing.

The ESC(Electronic Stability Control) system incorporates anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, traction control and active rollover protection. The self-levelizer system, which automatically ensures the ride height of the Captiva remains constant regardless of load, also comes standard.

Passengers will enjoy a quiet interior thanks to improved sound insulation such as acoustic glass and optimized insulation. The Captiva is also equipped with an electric park brake, an air-conditioning control on the steering wheel and a clever flush-fold EZ-Tech button that enables second- and third-row seats to be folded with ease. This is a first in the Captiva’s segment in Korea. The Eco Driving button enables users to eliminate unnecessary fuel consumption for improved fuel economy.

The new two-wheel-drive Chevrolet Captiva 2.0-liter diesel model – which seats up to seven people in comfort – comes in two trim levels. The LS is priced at KRW 26.0 million and the LT at KRW 28.2 million.
