An official logo for 2014 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games bid is open to the public

PyeongChang--(뉴스와이어)--The 2014 Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee unveiled the PyeongChang 2014 Applicant City logo featuring a five-colored oriental brush stroke image that portrays the vivacity of winter sports as well as the plentiful natural assets in Gangwon Province.

Following the IOC’s official approval of the logo Wednesday, the bid committee plans to launch a series of promotional activities using the logo, as well as to unveil a theme song, a slogan and other symbols in the near future.

The Applicant City logo was designed over a period of several months with participation of outside experts. Its symbolic features represent the strengths and ambitions of PyeongChang as it seeks to win the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The logo portrays dynamic images of winter sports that represent the natural features found in abundance in Gangwon Province, including mountains, rivers, the ocean and the sun.

PyeongChang’s passionate desire to shape the future of the Winter Olympics is reflected symbolically in Oriental-style brush strokes.

The figure of five lines radiating from a single point symbolizes PyeongChang’s clear vision to further develop and promote winter sports, positioning itself as the hub of winter sports in Asia.

The five colors of the logo represent the five continents and symbolize worldwide harmony - a hallmark of the Olympic Movement.
